Upside Down Kingdom is a Christian board game for kids that has quickly become one of our favorites.
And honestly, that's saying something.
As a mom who wants our family to spend less time on screens and more time talking, playing, learning, and growing together, I love finding activities that accomplish more than one thing at a time.
But here's the important part:
My kids actually want to play it.
And that makes all the difference.

What Is Upside Down Kingdom?
Upside Down Kingdom is a Gospel-centered, cooperative board game designed to help children experience biblical truths through play.
It's made for 2–4 players, is designed for ages 4–12, and games take roughly 20–30 minutes.
Instead of players competing against one another, everyone works together to advance the Kingdom and reach the Ends of the Earth before the White Horse reaches the End of the Age.
And this is one of the things I especially appreciate about it:
The biblical message isn't just printed on the box. It's built into the actual gameplay.
Kids encounter Kingdom attributes like:
Faith
Hope
Grace
Forgiveness
Joy
Generosity
Humility
Righteousness
They also encounter "Anti-Kingdom" challenges representing things like fear, worry, greed, pride, complaining, and unforgiveness.
Players use the attributes of the King to overcome those challenges and literally begin to flip the board from the Anti-Kingdom to the Kingdom.
It's a really clever way of helping kids see a biblical truth play out right in front of them.
Why My Kids Love It
This is probably the part that matters most to me.
I've tried plenty of activities that I thought would be wonderful for our family only to discover that my kids weren't nearly as excited about them as I was.

My kids were genuinely excited to play.
And because the game is cooperative, they're not sitting around trying to beat each other. They're working toward the same goal.
That creates a completely different atmosphere around the table.
Instead of:
"I won!"
it's more like:
"How can we help each other?"
And suddenly we're talking about things like generosity, forgiveness, fear, faith, and what it means to actually live like Jesus.
That's exactly the kind of discipleship I want happening in our home.
Not always another formal lesson.
Not always sitting down and saying, "Okay kids, today we're going to learn about biblical character."
Sometimes it's just playing a game around the kitchen table and letting the conversation happen naturally.

One of my biggest complaints about some Christian games for kids is that they're essentially secular games with Christian language added to them.
That's not what I feel like with Upside Down Kingdom.
The game mechanics themselves reinforce the biblical message.
For example, the Anti-Kingdom cards represent struggles children actually encounter.
Fear.
Pride.
Greed.
Unforgiveness.
Complaining.
Then players use Kingdom attributes to overcome them.
So instead of simply answering a trivia question about forgiveness, kids are actually using grace to overcome unforgiveness within the game.
Instead of just memorizing that generosity is good, they're seeing generosity work as part of the game's strategy.
It's theology through play.
And for younger children especially, I think that can be incredibly powerful.
